Website Design Cost Perth: The Full First-Year Bill (2026)

The full first-year bill for a Perth small business website: build, domain, email, hosting and the extras quotes skip, with real prices checked on 20 October 2026.

JetBlok cover reading Website design cost Perth, the full first year bill, with build, domain, email, hosting and Care Plan lines

I'm Rav, and I run JetBlok Studio, a web design and SEO studio in Gosnells, Perth. A $999 website is either a smart piece of business housekeeping or an expensive lesson, and the price tag alone won't tell you which. Search website design cost Perth and you mostly get build prices. That's only the first line on the bill. The domain, email, hosting, add-ons and the admin around a quote land later, and that's where the surprises live.

So this guide is the full first-year bill, line by line, with real prices I checked on 20 October 2026. If you just want my package prices side by side, they're on my web design cost Perth page. For how I build, see web design Perth and websites for tradies.

Why website design cost Perth quotes swing from hundreds to $20k

Ask around and you'll hear anything. In one r/ausbusiness thread about starting a design studio, a seller said they charge in the "160-350$ range" for quick sites, while another commenter said "My web designer starts at $7k and she's flat out". In a different r/ausbusiness pricing thread, a new online clothing store had quotes "averaging $15k - $20k per provider", and one reply said "You should not be paying more than $5-$10k for this."

Those are single stories, not benchmarks. But they show why the website design cost Perth owners get quoted swings so much: the jobs are different. The gap usually comes down to:

  • Scope: five pages and fifteen pages are different projects, and selling online is a different job again.
  • Who does the work: a small studio with low overheads prices differently to an agency carrying account managers and offices.
  • Platform: a template on a monthly builder, a coded site and a custom web app are three different products.
  • Content: who writes the words and who supplies the photos.
  • Features: booking requests, calculators, ordering and integrations each add build and testing time.
  • After launch: some quotes stop at handover. Others roll support, SEO or hosting into a monthly fee.

Ask every supplier to list inclusions in the same categories, then compare line by line instead of on the headline number. My guide to comparing website design Perth quotes has a simple scoring method for that.

The first-year website design cost Perth owners should budget for

Here's every line that can show up in year one, and who you usually pay. Prices change often, so check the live page before you buy.

Line item What it is Real price example (checked 20 Oct 2026) Who you pay
Build One-time design and build JetBlok: from $599 page by page, Starter $999, Growth $1,999, Pro $2,999+, No GST charged (pricing) Your web designer
.com.au domain Your web address, licensed for 1 to 5 years $9.95 for the first year on a new registration, then $22.95 a year (VentraIP) A domain registrar
Hosting Where the site lives Included on Next.js sites JetBlok hosts. Elsewhere, owners on r/ausbusiness report anything from "$5 per month for cloudflare" to "$200 a month for hosting, emails plus maintenance and reports" Your designer or a web host
Business email [email protected] Microsoft 365 Business Basic: AU$10.50 per user a month, paid yearly, plus GST (Microsoft) Your email provider
Business name Only if you trade under a name that isn't your own $47 for 1 year or $108 for 3 years (business.gov.au) ASIC
Google Business Profile Your listing on Google Search and Maps Free to create (Google) Nobody, unless you pay for setup help
Ongoing care Updates, ongoing SEO, backups, support JetBlok Care Plan: optional, $299 a month Your designer, only if you choose
Ads Google or Meta ads Whatever budget you set The ad platform

Hosting and email are where monthly fees hide, and where the website design cost Perth owners expect quietly grows. In that r/ausbusiness hosting thread, someone who works in the industry said "It would be a bit weird for the domain renewal costs to be bundled in with the hosting." Fair point. Ask for the domain, hosting, email and maintenance as separate lines, so you can see what each one costs and who controls it.

The domain is a small line, but it moves. auDA, which runs .au domains, raised the wholesale price of a .au licence from AUD$8.64 to AUD$9.50 a year (ex GST) on 1 October 2026. Registrar prices sit on top of that.

A real example: a Perth sparky's first year on the Starter build

Say you're a sole trader electrician in Gosnells. You want a five-page site, one email address and nothing monthly you don't need. Here's the real website design cost Perth sparkies can expect in year one:

  • Build: Starter, $999 one-time. That's a $199 deposit to start and the $800 balance before go-live.
  • Domain: $22.95 a year at VentraIP's renewal price, or $9.95 if you catch the first-year deal.
  • Email: one Microsoft 365 Business Basic mailbox at AU$10.50 a month paid yearly. That's AU$126 plus GST, about $138.60.
  • Hosting: included.
  • Google Business Profile: free.

First-year total: about $1,148 to $1,161. Year two drops to about $162 for the domain and email. If you already trade under a registered business name, you're paying ASIC for that anyway, so it isn't a new cost.

Want Google working for you from day one? Growth at $1,999 includes Google Business Profile setup and 3 months of Local SEO, which are $199 and $899 as add-ons on Starter. And the optional Care Plan adds $299 a month if you'd rather someone else handled updates and ongoing SEO. My website care plan guide covers when it earns its keep and when to skip it.

What sits outside most build prices

Whatever the website design cost Perth studios quote, check whether these are in it. They often aren't unless the quote says so:

  • Extra pages and suburb pages beyond the package. Mine are $99 each.
  • Professional photography and video. Your own job photos often work better than stock anyway.
  • Logo and brand work. My logo refresh is $249.
  • Online ordering, booking requests, price calculators and links to your job or accounting software.
  • Ads and ongoing content.
  • Local SEO beyond the foundations built into the site.

None of these are hidden at JetBlok. They're priced on my pricing page before you start, and in my quote builder copywriting for every page is included. For a wider view of what tradies pay, see how much a tradie website costs.

What "No GST charged" means on a Perth website quote

The ATO says you must register for GST when your GST turnover is "$75,000 or more". Below that, "registering for GST is optional." So when a quote says "No GST charged", it usually means the supplier isn't registered for GST. My quotes say exactly that, because JetBlok isn't registered. There's no GST to add, which also means there's no GST credit for you to claim on it.

What every quote should still show is an ABN. The ATO's no ABN statement says payers "must withhold 47%" from a payment to a supplier who doesn't quote an ABN, unless an exception applies. Exceptions include payments of $75 or less (excluding GST) and suppliers not carrying on an enterprise in Australia. If you're unsure, ask your accountant, and check any ABN on ABN Lookup before you pay. Mine is 39 822 500 563, and it's in the footer of every JetBlok page. I go deeper on tax and ownership in my web dev Reddit Australia guide.

Who should hold the accounts you pay for

The cheapest line on the bill causes the most grief when it's in the wrong name. Under the .au licensing rules, a .au licence runs for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years, and you need an Australian presence to hold one. Keep the licence in your business's name, with renewal notices coming to you, not your designer.

The same goes for email and any platform logins. With JetBlok, you own the domain and, once paid in full, the finished site, and you can migrate off JetBlok hosting anytime. My cheap website builds guide shows how to check who holds your domain in two minutes.

How I price a JetBlok build

I publish my prices because the website design cost Perth businesses pay shouldn't be a guessing game:

  • Starter, $999: a lean site that gets you online and callable. Up to 5 pages, or a focused one-pager.
  • Growth, $1,999: built to turn local searches into booked jobs. Up to 10 pages, quote or booking-style forms, Google Business Profile setup and 3 months of Local SEO.
  • Pro, $2,999+: a custom build for bigger scope, with as many pages as your scope needs and 6 months of Local SEO.
  • Page by page: build your own quote from $599. Extra pages and suburb pages are $99 each.

No GST charged on any of it. JetBlok hosting is included on the Next.js sites we host, with no mandatory monthly website fee. The Care Plan is optional at $299 a month.

See it first, pay later. We agree the quote upfront. It's a 10% deposit (minimum $199) to start, and your first preview lands within 3 to 5 business days of your deposit and content. You see the finished site before you pay the balance, and you pay before it goes live. Pro is paid 10% (minimum $199), 40% and 50%. No ranking promises.

When $999 is the wrong budget

If you need to sell lots of products online, take bookings with deposits, connect a CRM or job software, publish hundreds of pages or run several locations with their own content, a $999 Starter won't get you there. That's Pro territory, scoped from your feature list.

That isn't a reason to overpay for a brochure site either. A five-page site for a one-van trade business doesn't need a $10,000 build, and a multi-location retailer doesn't need a $999 one. Match the budget to the job. That's the whole point of published pricing: you can see where you sit before the first phone call.

Before you pay a deposit: 8 quick checks

  1. Get the page count and page names in writing, not just "up to X pages".
  2. Confirm who writes the content and who supplies the images.
  3. Ask whose name the domain, hosting and email accounts will be in.
  4. Ask who owns the finished site once it's paid for, and get it in writing.
  5. Check the preview on your own phone, not a desktop mock-up.
  6. Ask what a change two weeks after launch costs.
  7. Check the ABN on the quote and look it up.
  8. Get every recurring cost as its own line, with who you pay.

The bottom line

A website design cost Perth search shows you a build price. Budget the year instead: the build, the domain, email, hosting and any optional extras, each on its own line. For a small local business on my Starter, that first year comes to about $1,150 with nothing monthly you didn't choose. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the real first-year website design cost in Perth?

The website design cost Perth owners should budget is the build plus running costs. On my Starter, that's $999 for the build, about $23 for a .com.au domain and about $139 for one Microsoft 365 mailbox, so roughly $1,150 to $1,160 in year one, with hosting included and no mandatory monthly fee. Bigger scopes, online stores and monthly plans change the sum.

What ongoing costs come after a website is built?

Plan for a domain renewal (VentraIP lists .com.au renewals at $22.95 a year), business email (Microsoft 365 Business Basic is AU$10.50 per user a month paid yearly, plus GST) and hosting unless it's included. Ongoing SEO, updates and ads are optional. Ask for each one as a separate line on the quote.

Do I have to pay a monthly fee for a JetBlok website?

No. JetBlok hosting is included on the Next.js sites we host, and there's no mandatory monthly website fee. You pay your own domain renewal, and the Care Plan is optional at $299 a month for ongoing SEO, updates and support.

Why does a website quote say No GST charged?

It usually means the supplier isn't registered for GST. The ATO says registration is required at a GST turnover of $75,000 or more and optional below that. There's no GST to add and no GST credit to claim. The quote should still show an ABN you can check on ABN Lookup.

How much does a .com.au domain cost each year?

It depends on the registrar. VentraIP lists new .com.au registrations at $9.95 for the first year, then $22.95 a year to renew. auDA sets the wholesale price, which rose to AUD$9.50 a year (ex GST) on 1 October 2026. Keep the licence in your own business name.

Is $999 enough for a website in Perth?

For a compact site for a small local business or sole trader, yes. My Starter covers up to 5 pages, a mobile-ready design, SEO foundations, an enquiry form, click-to-call and a map. It won't stretch to an online store, complex integrations or a large page count, which are scoped and quoted separately. Questions?
